Sector Information


Sector Index:

  The market cap. weighted price index of the displayed sector and region (Global, US, Non-US) based on shares outstanding. (Right-hand scale.)

Advance-Decline Line:

  A measure of breadth within the sector. This index-line increases by 1 point per day for every stock in the sector that rises and declines by one point for every stock that depreciates. The Advance-Decline Line can indicate underlying strength or weakness in a sector. (Left-hand scale.)

50-Day Moving Average:

  The 50 day simple moving average of the sector price index of the displayed sector and region (Global, US, Non-US). (Right-hand scale.)

200-Day Moving Average:

  The 200 day simple moving average of the sector price index of the displayed sector and region (Global, US, Non-US). (Right-hand scale.)

% of Constituents Above:

  Percentage of sector stocks comprising the total universe trading above the respective simple moving average of their share prices

50-Day Moving Average:

  Percentage of constituents trading above the 50 day simple moving average of their respective share prices for the displayed sector and region (Global, US, Non-US).

200-Day Moving Average:

  Percentage of constituents trading above the 200 day simple moving average of their respective share prices for the displayed sector and region (Global, US, Non-US).

52-Week Highs/Lows:

  Number of sector stocks trading at new 52 Week Highs and Lows respectively. Provided in this form rather as percentages to improve the visual responsiveness of displayed information particularly for smaller sectors

Sector McClellan Metrics:

  An indicator of sector health derived from the Advance-Decline

Sector McClellan Oscillator:

  Calculated by subtracting the 39 day exponential moving average of the Advance-Decline Line from the corresponding 19 day exponential moving average

Sector McClellan Index:

  The cumulative value of the Sector McClellan Oscillator

Stock Count:

  Number of stocks in the sector index

1-Day Breadth:

  The number of advancing issues divided by the number of declining issues (or vice-versa if negative). “Max” denotes that all stocks in the sector traded up and “Min” denotes that all stocks traded down

Sector Performance:

  The price change in the cap. weighted price index for the sector

% > Mov. Avg.:

  Percentage of sector stocks comprising the total universe trading above the respective simple moving average of their share prices

Note that our definition of “Non-US” only refers to non-US domiciled stocks trading on US exchanges. “Global” refers to US traded stocks of all domiciles.
